What is Project Flaer 19?

Project Flaer 19 is all about manufacturing lightweight active type wheelchairs, which are purely made of titanium and custom-built to meet special individual needs. Flaer 19 is not a particular model. It is rather a method of selection and manufacturing an individual wheelchair based on its user unique characteristics such as height, weight etc.

What is it made of?

Frame. Material.
Based on our research on wheelchair users we have come up with a decision to design our wheelchair using titanium only. Why? There are several reasons for it:

Titanium is extremely light. A light wheelchair is an advantage for both an active user and for someone who is assisting. Titanium is also exceptionally strong and does not corrode which lead to longer life of the wheelchair.

Backrest
No one other than a disabled wheelchair designer can understand better all the special requirements for a wheelchair that a disabled customer is needed when he / she is looking for a new wheelchair. Lets quote our wheelchair designer - Konstantin, so he can explain it in more detail:

"Many active user chairs, particularly with a broken spine, find that the backrest of an ordinary wheelchair interferes their movements. I have experienced the same problem with my old wheelchair. Therefore, like many other wheelchair users I have decided to cut the backrest to get more freedom in my movements. However, this is resulted in greater strain on the spine and a drop of one of the spinal disks. So, I had to restore the backrest and started to suffer from limited movements again.

Our Flaer 19 project has solved the above problem. The backrest is still tall but its height depends on where a user’s spine is damaged. The backrest of our wheelchair became narrow which means that when the user turns around, his/her elbows do not touch the backrest, hence, more space for movement.

This is how the 1st edition looked like:

"Everything was great. My mobility especially in the kitchen and in a sports hall increased dramatically. Now when I am travelling on my wheelchair, I do not think anymore about catching on something as the range of my body motion boosted."

"It appeared to me that the problem with the backrest has been solved. However, after testing my wheelchair by many of my disabled friends, they have come up with a proposition to slightly change the shape of the backrest. As the result, the backrest has gained a new look:"

Such backrest is perfectly adjusted against the spine, supports it and reduces fatigue and muscle ache in the meantime does not interferes your body movement.

After extensive testing, we can confirm that our wheelchair is energy efficient and looks aesthetically pleasing and inspires confidence in the user.
